What Is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is a contactless payment system that’s designed to work directly from your Apple device, rather than needing you to own any kind of card or an extra item containing a special chip.
Originally, it was designed to only work for in-person payments, acting as a replacement for a credit card and letting you make payments anywhere that accepted normal contactless payment methods. Unlike hanging over real cash as a face to face transaction, or using you card through a normal PIN system, Apple Pay worked as a middleman that created a barrier between your bank account and your card account, tracking every payment and keeping your sensitive details hidden.
Eventually, it was expanded to work for online payments too, resulting in various sites starting to notice it and modify their checkout systems to accept Apple Pay. This eventually started to include online bingo sites, slots companies and casino sites, many of which are always looking to offer the best features and newest payment option possible.
Why Should I Use Apple Pay?
Apple Pay has quite a few different benefits, some of which are more obvious for bingo players and direct than others. The first one you’ll notice is the ability to pay contactless (and, now that it’s online, digitally) without having to apply your own card or bank details, which makes like an easier-to-use version of PayPal that can handle both offline and online payments.
Because it works through your Apple device, this also means that you don’t need to carry anything extra or make sure that you have a certain item in your wallet, and the contactless payments are far faster than having to get your card, type in a code and wait for everything to process.
Another advantage is that Apple Pay doesn’t take anything to set up – all you need is the Apple Pay app and a card that you can connect to it. You aren’t going through multiple sites like most E-wallets would need you to do, and you’re not forced to download any untrustworthy software or apply to an agreement to comply with a company / agree to be bound to questionable rules. The app is straight from Apple themselves, meaning that it should run perfectly on all of their devices and get all of the security updates you expect.
Speaking of security, it also works well for keeping your data safe. You aren’t paying for bingo directly from your bank or card, and the money is going through the Apple Pay middleman, meaning that it’s far less likely that your real cash to get stolen or that your account could get hacked. Even if somebody does get access to your AP account, every transaction is traced, and you can get into contact with Apple to rectify the problem or stop any payments from coming through.
Finally, it’s free of extra fees. Very few online bingo sites or casino sites will have fees, and any fees that you do get won’t be credited to your real bank account – it’ll go to the “merchant” (the bingo site) instead, since they’re using the service to take bingo payments as a company. If the fee gets passed back to you, that’s the choice of the bingo sites you’re playing on, not part of how the Apple Pay service works.
How Do I Use Apple Pay?
Learning how to accept Apple Pay as a payment method can take a little while, but it’s not actually that different to a lot of other E-wallet services. The process is slightly different, but once you have the hang of it, you’ll be able to use it fairly well and won’t need to keep checking the FAQ pages or help forums.
To make a bingo deposit with Apple Pay, you’ll need to go to the deposit pages of whichever bingo sites you’re using. Enter the amount you want to deposit, then choose Apple Pay as the payment method. This will bring you to the Apple Pay app, where you’ll be shown an outline of your payment and how much it comes to: to confirm it, you’ll need to validate your identity using whichever method your device can been set to use (a name and password, fingerprint scans, face scans or a code). Once that’s done, you can just confirm the payment like you would with any regular E-wallet, and the bingo money should be transferred over instantly.
Bingo withdrawals aren’t possible with Apple Pay yet, unfortunately, so you’ll have to use another option instead. However, there are many sites that offer secure middleman service for withdrawing money, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Remember that you’ll need to have a card or bank account connected to the system before you can actually make payments through it: it isn’t actually a digital wallet, but an extra step in the chain, meaning that it still requires you to pay from your card. There’s actually an option to connect a card by taking a picture of it with the device’s camera, which makes this a much faster process.
Using Apple Pay Bingo Sites Correctly
Apple Pay can be quite confusing, but getting a better grip on how it works and the way that certain features work can be a lifesaver if you’re trying to gamble responsibly and still find a way to enjoy the bingo games you want to play.
Apple Pay and Bingo Bonuses
Apple Pay can still trigger bonus features in exactly the same way, but remember that it’s still a different payment method. Some sites have a special bonus offer for players using a particular payment tool for the first time, and others be a new players only offer with very specific rules.
One of the most common bonuses you’ll find will be ones that let you deposit bonus funds. If you get a cash bonus, related wins’ wager requirements will also be based on it – so if you need to wager 4x your money to activate withdrawal, this will increase as your deposit bonus funds do. The wager 4x multiplier will apply to those deposit bonus funds regardless of the payment method you use, since it’s triggered on deposit and not because of a certain payment option.
Some bonuses might activate based on a code. You might be tempted to save the bonus code for later, especially if you want to be granted in games bonus after you’re more established on the site. Make sure to check the wagering requirements, as well as the terms and conditions, carefully: some code exclusive bonuses only work as a first deposit bonus, and might expire after 7 days even if you haven’t triggered them yet.
Apple Pay and Bingo Withdrawal
Bingo withdrawal through Apple Pay is almost impossible at the moment, so even if you have bingo winnings that can be withdrawn at any time, you won’t be able to take it out of the bingo site without another method or system that you can use.
A select set of bingo sites may allow it, but it’s still far less efficient that choosing to apply your withdrawal through another service. Remember that all the usual withdrawal limits and restrictions still apply, too.
When claiming bonus money from a bonus wins related wager requirement, your winnings your winnings will be credited to your real balance on the site. Under most circumstances, this allows for withdrawal at any time, but you’ll still need a service that can carry out the withdrawal properly. Withdrawal at any time can sometimes can also change depending on how your winnings will be credited to your real world money: some banks may apply the process slower than others, any may take a few days longer.
Most of the time, general withdrawal restrictions will still apply to all players, too. For example, they have to apply 18+ rules to all players: if you’re below 18+, new players won’t be able to access the site, even if they have a real money balance, promo code or game deposit balance ready to withdraw. When you try to withdraw games bonus funds, the bingo sites will want to make sure that all of their rules apply to your properly.
Things to Watch Out For
Bingo sites, and casino sites in general, can be very overwhelming. There are a lot of different rules and restrictions that apply, and understanding them all can be key to making sure that you’re doing everything legally and correctly.
Here are some of the terms you might want to keep in mind, as well how you should react to seeing them in the terms and conditions of bonuses or sites.
“First Depositors Only, Min Deposit…”
A phrase like “first time depositors only, min deposit £10” or “first time depositors only, min deposit £20” means that only new players are able to use the bonus. There are various ways that a bingo site might enforce this, but one of the most common ones is simply making the bonus only valid for 7 days after a player creates their account.
This is similar to most time general withdrawal restrictions, but the ability to claim the bonus also expires after 7 days: if you don’t claim it before then, then you never can, and the bonus will never again be valid until further notice.
Other bingo sites have a better way to restrict how long you have to use the bonus in days: promo code features. A 7 days promo code will be designed to only work if the user activates it in a certain amount of time, so if you’ve only been on for a few days, promo code features like this need to be activated quickly before they expire. After a set amount of days, promo code offers will expire if you don’t apply the code to your deposit or account.
“Max offer, bingo tickets worth…”
A phrase like “…max offer, bingo tickets worth…” or “…max offer, bingo tickets only” will mean that the bingo site is giving you tickets rather than bingo money. On a surface level, this is the same thing, but tickets are often a bit more restricted in how they can be used.
For example, if a casino site chooses to offer a max bonus £100, that’s £100 that can be used for different gambling bets, spread across multiple games, or sometimes even used on any games you want. If they offer bingo tickets worth £100, those tickets, it might actually be “offer bingo tickets worth £100, split into £10 tickets”. This means that you technically only get 10 free games at a preset value.
On the other hand, that’s not always the case. Just like free spins (and the fact that you can get 50 free spins that are actually worth only £10), max offer bingo tickets worth £100 could be for multiple different games, stand in for normal betting money on any bingo game, or even vary by game deposit limits. If you encounter a “max offer, bingo tickets worth…” bonus, be sure to look at which terms apply and how it’s supposed to be used.
Choosing other Withdrawal Methods
The easiest way to bypass all of these restrictions that apply is to use your bank card details. Unless one of the bingo win conditions is deemed fraudulent, and as long as no more minimum wagering requirements apply, your winnings will be credited directly to your card and you can apply for withdrawal at any time.
Apple Pay is great for deposits on bingo, but sometimes it’s best to apply a different tool if you want to ensure that everything goes well. Credit or debit card withdrawal will offer the easiest, most direct way of getting your money, and it’s always valid until further notice, with no sign of any bingo site dropping it since it’s so widespread and convenient.
Failing that, you can apply one of dozens of other independently owned tools to do this. Choose carefully, as they affect both the card owner and operator of the site, and often use data files called cookies to track visitor behaviour. This is often just to improve the usability of the service, but always read these terms that they set out for you. Being safe is part of knowing how to gamble responsibly.
Should I Use Apple Pay?
No matter how you apply for withdrawal at any time, pay for bingo games or set up a code system to protect your money, Apple Pay is definitely a usable option. While withdrawal at any time won’t really be an option with them, withdrawal at any time is hard for many services to achieve. At least in this case, you don’t need to worry about bingo withdrawal at any time, and it will even track your bingo money to see if anybody else has gotten into your account.
If you’re using Apple Pay for security reasons while playing bingo, be sure to apply things like a security code to your accounts. Bingo is popular, and hackers or account thieves know that and will try to apply as many tricks as possible to get your password or code. Use Apple Pay as one of many security features, don’t just apply it to your mobile phone and assume that everything is safe.
